When Should You Go?

The best time to visit Morocco is spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November), when the whole country works at once: warm days in the Sahara, mild evenings in the imperial cities and comfortable walking weather from Chefchaouen to Marrakech. But Morocco is genuinely a year round destination once you match the season to the route.

Spring: March to May

The headline season. Wildflowers in the Atlas, roses in the Dades in late April and May, 25 to 30 degree days in the desert and green landscapes everywhere. Every itinerary works, and the 10 day tour books out earliest. Reserve one to two months ahead.

Summer: June to August

Inland afternoons reach 38 to 45 degrees, so we flip the rhythm: early starts, long shaded lunches, and evenings when the medinas come alive. The Sahara is hot but far from impossible, camps run all summer with cooler nights than most expect. Coastal Essaouira sits around 24 degrees, which is why the 12 day grand tour with its ocean finale is our summer favourite.

Autumn: September to November

Summer heat fades fast after mid September and October is arguably the single best month in Morocco: warm dunes, calm weather, harvest markets. Perfect for the 2 weeks Morocco itinerary and for honeymoons.

Winter: December to February

Bright blue skies and 18 to 22 degree days in Marrakech and the desert, with cold nights that a heated camp handles easily. Chefchaouen and Ifrane can be genuinely cold and occasionally snowy, which photographers love. Desert focused routes shine now, and the roads are at their quietest outside the year end holidays.

What is the cheapest time to visit Morocco?

January (after the holidays), February and June typically bring the lowest accommodation prices and the quietest sites. Transport costs with us stay fixed year round, so the saving comes from riads and camps, which can drop 20 to 40 percent versus April or October.

Is the Sahara too hot in summer?

Midday in July and August is genuinely hot, often above 42 degrees, but desert trips still run well: camel treks move to sunrise and sunset, camps cool sharply at night, and the 4×4 does the midday work. If you can only travel in summer, the desert remains absolutely doable with the right pacing.

When can you see snow in Morocco?

Between December and February, snow regularly covers the High Atlas and Middle Atlas, and Ifrane is built for it. On a clear winter day in Marrakech you can photograph palm trees against snowcapped mountains, one of the country’s most surprising views.

Does Ramadan affect a private tour?

Less than travellers fear. Monuments and hotels operate normally, restaurants serving visitors stay open, and travelling with a private driver removes the transport slowdowns. Evenings during Ramadan are festive and memorable. We simply plan meal stops a little more deliberately.
